Scouting Report:

There are only three words that adequately describe Richard Gordon; Freak of nature. Richard Gordon is almost 270 pounds of pure muscle, but still has above-average speed for a Tight End (4.6 speed).  He’s a dominant force in run blocking. He gets to the second level and mops-up defenders with ease. He has potential as a pass catcher, but he’s still very raw in the nuances of the pro game. He needs to improve as a route runner, and he needs to learn how to use his huge frame to exclude defenders from the play. Whether that means out jumping a defender, or out muscling a defender, he needs to take advantage of his size and athleticism. He has inconsistent hands as well, dropping some easy catches. I don’t think he has great hands, or ever will, but with coaching and further understanding of the game  he can compensate for his average/mediocre hands.  By the end of the preseason Gordon should be the No. 2 Tight End behind David Ausberry. He could have a surprise year.
