Scouting Report
Juron Criner is very different from the other receivers on the Raiders’ roster. Criner isn’t fast, but he relies on his excellent hands and his size to make an impact. For a receiver coming out of college he has good awareness, and knows how to put him self in position to make the catch. While his hands and size are good assets, Criner will need to evolve if he wants to make an impact at the NFL level. Criner did not great separation at the college-level, it will only get harder in the NFL. In college, he played in Seth Littrell’s Air-Raid offense, it was a very simple offense that did require receivers to run many different routes. He will need to be able to learn the new routes he will be required to run. Overall, Juron Criner is solid. The hype train surrounding him has gotten out of control. He isn’t the most gifted athlete in the world, but Criner can make a career by utilizing his great hands, taking pride in running routes, and taking advantage of mismatches (See: Marques Colston, 2010 Mike Williams).
