Will the Oakland Raiders Sign Tyvon Branch To a New Contract Before Monday’s Deadline?

What’s up RaiderNation? There has been a lot of buzz about ongoing contract negotiations between the Oakland Raiders and Tyvon Branch. The deadline for an agreement to be reached is next Monday at 4 P.M. EST. The word is that they are working hard to try to get a deal done.

There are those who don’t think a deal will get done, if for no other reason, he has already signed his franchise tender. But the Raiders definitely have motivation to get a deal done. After all, they are hurting for cap space, with two of the draft picks still unsigned. The Raiders have just over 1.3 million in cap space left and need to do something in order to get their two unsigned rookies signed, and possibly have some space left to pick-up another free agent or two. As far as Branch is concerned, his incentive is that he wants a long term contract with the Oakland Raiders.

With incentives on both sides to get a deal done, and the deadline quickly approaching, expect to hear more in the next couple of days, and in my opinion, an announcement prior to the deadline that they have reached a deal. Branch will have the contract he desires, the Raiders will have him locked up for the next few years at least, and will have some extra cap space for the unfinished business.

That’s it for this week my brothers and sisters. Peace out RaiderNation!!
