It’s the boring time between the offseason and training camp, you know what that means. If you guessed; ” A time for inaccurate predictions”, then you were right. It was an offseason if change for the Oakland Raiders. Whether personnel, management, or scheme the Raiders went threw fundamental changes in every part of the Franchise. There is an air of cautious optimism around the Raidernation. Today, I will be giving you my stat projections for each significant Raiders player on offense. You can use these projections to help you out for your fantasy draft. These projections are going to be somewhat random because we haven’t been able to see the team that much, but I am going to give it my best shot.
Quarterback
Carson Palmer: 3,928 Passing Yards, 26 Passing Touchdowns, 14 Interceptions, %61.2 Completion Percentage, 50 Rushing Yards
Matt Leinart: 300 Passing Yards, 3 Passing Touchdowns, 2 Interceptions, %58 Completion Percentage, 5 Rushing Yards
Wildcat Quarterback
Terrelle Pryor: 78 Passing Yards, 0 Passing Touchdowns. 0 Interceptions, %52 Completion Percentage, 150 Rushing Yards, 1 Rushing touchdown
Fullback
Marcel Reece: 180 Rushing yards, 1 Rushing Touchdown, 5.5 Per Carry Average, 20 Receptions, 250 Receiving Yards, 2 Receiving Touchdowns
Running Back
Darren McFadden- 1,668 Rushing Yards, 11 Rushing Touchdowns, 4.9 Per Carry Average, 32 Receptions, 415 Receiving Yards, 1 Receiving Touchdown
Mike Goodson- 200 Rushing Yards, 0 Rushing Touchdowns, 4.4 Per Carry Average, 2 Receptions, 18 Yards, 0 Receiving Touchdowns
Wide Receiver
Denarius Moore: 50 Receptions, 802 Receiving Yards, 5 Touchdowns
Darrius Heyward-Bey: 83 Receptions, Receiving 1200 Yards, 6 Touchdowns
Jacoby Ford: 36 Receptions, 620 Receiving Yards, 3 Touchdowns
Juron Criner: 28 Catches, 318 Receiving Yards, 3 Touchdowns
Tight End
David Ausberry: 52 Receptions, 720 Receiving Yards, 5 Touchdowns
Brandon Myers: 15 Receptions, 160 Receiving Yards, 1 Touchdown
Offensive Line
Jared Veldheer: 2 Sacks Allowed
Tony Bergstrom: 4 Sacks Allowed
Stefen Wisniewski: 1 Sack Allowed
Mike Brisiel: 3 Sacks Allowed
Joseph Barksdale/Khalif Barnes: 14 Sacks Allowed
I expect huge years from Carson Palmer and Darren McFadden. The new offense installed by Gregg Knapp will bring out the best in them. The Offensive Line will excel in run-blocking and will be solid in pass-protection, but Khalif Barnes and Joseph Barksdale, who will switch back-and-forth occupying the Right Tackle spot, will struggle in pass-protection. A bulkier David Ausberry will provide a huge upgrade at Tight End. He is a excellent route-runner, and catches anything in his area. Overall, I expect this offense to improve from last-year, or stay about the same in terns of production. For all you Fantasy Football geeks out there, there are a lot of good sleeper picks on the Raiders. In 12 or 14 team leagues, you will be able to get guys like; David Ausberry, Darrius Heyward-Bey, and Carson Palmer in the later rounds, or maybe in the post draft free agent pool. Watch-out for the Raiders’ offense in 2012!
