What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas
What’s up RaiderNation? This week will be Old Timer’s Las Vegas edition article as I am in Vegas for a week-long computer imaging conference. I am doing my best to represent RaiderNation properly, although I did skip the annual bowling tournament opting to watch the basketball game instead. Before the game, my partner Hector Guzman (a fellow diehard Raider fan) and I showed all the young bucks how to drink!!
The old school Raiders would have been proud of us, too bad Kenny Stabler wasn’t here to join us. The Raiders of old used to go out and get wasted on Saturday night and then dominate the opponent on Sunday, and we went out and tore it up last night, but today we will go show all of these young whipper snappers who is the boss, and then tonight, we will drink them all under the table again!!
Alright, I will admit this doesn’t have much to do with this year’s Raiders team, but in a way it does. That swagger that the old school Raiders had, is something that has been missing from the team for quite some time. Now I am not suggesting that the Raiders need to go our and party all night on Saturday and then go play Sunday morning. But what I am saying is they need to bring back the type of physical domination that they used to impose on their opponents. But that doesn’t necessarily mean they are bigger or stronger, but rather that they have the attitude and are able to impose their will on the opponent. I am hoping McKinzie and Allen will start to bring that back.
Our offense is already almost there, it is our defense this is lacking on, and I think this is at least partially from having nothing but offensive minded coaches for decades. We now have a defensive minded GM and HC, and I look for our defense to take a giant step forward this year. Let’s face it, if our defense hadn’t melted at times last year, we would have been in the play-offs.
Well I am going to cut this short RaiderNation, after all, I am in Vegas!! I’ve got 3 computer images to build, and I have some more drinking to do tonight. Peace out RaiderNation!!
